Russia may start testing a fifth-generation fighter jet in late 2009 or early 2010, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov, reported RIA Novosti news agency. Russia's Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Popovkin said the fighter jets that have been developed since the era of the 1990s, will be operated by the Air Force in 2015.
Russia is known to develop the project fifth-generation fighter jet Sukhoi PAK FA and now known as the prototype T-50. Fighter jet was developed to compete with the stealth fighter jets the United States F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II. Test fly the prime T-50 was delayed ever since the beginning of 2007 with no clear reason.
Alexander Zelin KASU Russia in August 2009 revealed the delays caused by mechanical problems and the research goes on. Sukhoi PAK FA will be armed with air-to-air missiles, air-to-surface and air-to-ship a new generation and has two 30 mm cannons.
