Libya bought Russian Fighter Jet

Libya plans to buy more than 20 Russian-made fighter jets in a deal worth billions of dollars of weapons, the Interfax news agency reported, quoting military sources of a diplomat.

"Libya plans to buy 12 to 15 jet fighter Su-35, 4 Su-30 fighter jets and coached 6 Yak-130 from Russia," said a source who did not want to mention.

The contract was signed late this year or early in 2010 and probably worth around 1 billion dollars (670 million euros), he added.

"Many contracts have been completed in terms of technical and practical aspects ready to be signed. Financing aspects still need solving, "said the source to the Interfax.

Discussion purchase weaponry from Russia began when Libyan President Moamer Kadhafi to visit Moscow last year.
